Cool Recording Studio is Part of a Hot Property for Sale

Ryan Edwards used to record tunes in a small closet. There, he dreamt of having a room big enough for home recording studio equipment like those listed at Random Life Music. The Panama Guitars co-founder did got to live that dream at Montclair, Oakland. There, he stayed for the past few years at a hillside house that includes a dedicated music room.

The recording studio was already there when Edwards' family initially surveyed the house. It made the property even more attractive, which was already so because of being in a well off address.

“If it were a studio which happened to be inside a home, we likely wouldn't have acquired it. Rather, we purchased it because it's a home with a music studio,” says Edwards. “The house is intelligently laid out, and it also has a good balance of outdoor and indoor areas. It just ticked all the items in our checklist.”

You'll find the music studio at the ground floor, in a multi-room section with good soundproofing and lots of space. The floor has a half bathroom and its own entrance, and the section could be easily modified according to the next owner's wants or needs.

For the studio's layout, Edwards enlisted the assistance of Jonah Strauss, a sound engineer at Oakland's Shipwreck Studio. He advises that the next owner do the same.

Edwards and his wife purchased the house from a music artist who built the recording studio. It has a utility room that functions as the center of the home's electronic backbone. The internet, cable tv and phone lines converge in the utility room. But the studio is not all wires and gadgets. It also offers a view to level yard that is sure to inspire creativity.
